Factory House Steamboat Springs
Factory house is an architectural dissemination of images from the client of preloved, derelict buildings found in the hills of forgotten industry sites. “The house should not look like a house. It should look like something that has always been there; that is has had to survive through harsh times.” The concept was simple: Three masses connected by an intertwining walkway inspired by industrial mining conveyors. Designing on a hillside afforded us the opportunity to play with numerous levels, over scaled forms and extremely robust and raw material combinations. The architecture results in unexpected spatial juxtapositions; enormous framed vistas informed by the surrounding landscape and a continuous flow from function to function.
